Douklar and AWS Backup
AWS Backup keeps restorable copies inside one Organization; Douklar moves selected data between accounts that may not share one.
Which to use
- AWS Backup
- Use AWS Backup for backup and recovery.
- Douklar
- Use Douklar to move data into another account, once, including across owners.
What it does
AWS Backup takes and restores backups on a schedule, with retention rules and vaults, and can copy backups to another account in the same Organization.
Where it is the better tool
- Retention, vaults and restore are what it is built for.
- Backups are managed by AWS with no host to run.
Where Douklar is different
- AWS Backup cross-account copy stops at the Organization boundary. Douklar holds one profile per account, and its worker relay needs no cross-account grant.
- Douklar maps sources to destinations, renames them, and promotes data into accounts that are already in use. Backup restores what it saved.
